PM Narendra Modi's Rally in Barasat: A Focus on Women Empowerment and Bengali Culture

top-news

The recent rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in West Bengal's Barasat town garnered significant attention, particularly for its emphasis on women empowerment and Bengali culture. Addressing a crowd eagerly awaiting his speech, PM Modi highlighted the achievements of his government while delivering crucial messages in Bangla, resonating deeply with the local audience.

PM Modi's address underscored the empowerment of women and addressed alleged atrocities against them under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Drawing parallels between the strength of Bengali women and the valor of Goddess Durga, he received an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Taking a swipe at the opposition's criticism, PM Modi asserted that the entire country was his family, countering recent remarks made by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav. He reiterated his connection with the women of Bengal, referring to them as his family.

Notably, PM Modi initiated his speech with chants of "Jai Maa Durga" and "Jai Maa Kali," reflecting the cultural ethos of Bengal. This move aimed to dispel the notion of the BJP being labeled as outsiders by the TMC during the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.

The rally, punctuated with PM Modi's use of Bangla on multiple occasions, sought to solidify the BJP's connection with Bengal's culture and language. Despite winning only two seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, the BJP made significant gains in 2019, securing 18 seats. With the upcoming elections on the horizon, the party aims to capture 35 out of the state's 42 seats, banking on PM Modi's popularity and charisma to sway the electorate.
